The UAE National Day

The Dubai Moving Image Museum is creative partner at ISEA 2014, as well as participating in the Al Bidaya Opening at Cuadro Art Gallery we are also present throughout the event. Alizee is part of various round tables including Evolution of Storytelling and Leap of Animation with amongst others Lina Younes from Animation Chamber Dubai and Erkki Huhtamo from UCLA. DMIM is also hosting visits by delegates during the 10 days event.

The New Manager

After a very successful time at DMIM Mandy has moved on and joined the world of academia, she is now heading the Art History Department at Canadian University in Dubai.
We would like to introduce Alizée our new museum manager who is in her second week at DMIM and is relishing the challenge of developing the museum working on a strong base after over a year of existence.

The Competition

We were invited by MEFCC to attend Dubai Comic Con and we organised with them a great one page comic competition inspired by the exhibits at the Dubai Moving Image Museum, the winner had is entry reviewed by Marvel’s VP of Creator Content, CB Cebulski as can be seen below!

The competition was judged by MEFCC’s Brett Benson and artist/designer Karien Mulder during an open mike evening hosted at DMIM

The Competition

Dubai Moving Image Museum and the Middle East Film and Comic Con present a comic competition for all ages. Create a one-page A3 comic and stand the chance to WIN a 3-day pass to Comic Com 2014 (April 3rd-5th), get promoted by the museum and Comic Con and have your comic reviewed by MARVEL COMICS! Visit the museum at a special rate of AED25 and get your entry. The more you visit the more you can enter!

Deadline is 26 March 2014 and the winner will be chosen at an acoustic, poetry and storytelling event from 18h30-21h30. We encourage you to dress up in our comic theme, so get creative!

PRIZES: 

The best entry will win a single 3-day pass to The Middle East Film and Comic Con. The winning one-page comic will be reprinted (X10 original copies) to A3 size and displayed at the Dubai Moving Image museum (DMIM) stall at The Middle East Film and Comic Con (April 3rd-5th) 2014. Depending on the amount of prints sold, a 15% commission will go to the DMIM and the rest of the proceeds will go to the winning artist. If the artist wishes to donate the original piece, the artwork will be framed and displayed in the DMIM. The winning one-page comic will also receive a review and critique from the Vice President of Creator Content Development of Marvel Comics, CB Cebulski.
